Frequently asked questions about:

Video Interfaces

I have connected a video interface but nothing happens when I’m trying to switch between video inputs.

  • Make sure that inputs and outputs were not mixed up during connection.
  • If you are using OEM buttons to switch between video inputs, make sure that CAN wires are connected correctly. You can use a video interface remote control or external mode switch buttons to determine whether there’s a problem with CAN bus connection (if you have an HD-LINK video interface you can connect 2 pins in the MODE socket, as shown in the diagram). If the remote control/mode switch buttons work then quite likely there’s a problem with CAN bus connection.
  • Some video interfaces (like this one) require a specific Factory-mode-Util1-Car model setting to be set. Try all available settings options as sometimes they may not correspond to the car model.

I have connected a navigation box via video interface but image from the navigation is distorted or not full screen.

  • Set the correct screen resolution for RGB using switches on the video interface and the navigation box.
  • Some video interfaces and camera connection adapters require a specific Factory-mode-Util1-Navi model or Menu-Config-Navi RGB setting to be set. Typically they are MD7000/Q-ROI or GI3000/8000. Also, if the picture is shifted horizontally or vertically, it can be adjusted in the video interface menu or in the navigation box settings.

Where should I connect the MMI wire from the video interface/camera adapter for Audi?

I have connected a video interface but there’s no sound from video sources that are connected to it.

  • A video interface does not transfer sound to the OEM audio system, it can only commute sound from connected sources to an AV OUT output. Use your car’s AUX input or an audio adapter to transfer sound to the OEM audio system.

GVIF Video Interfaces

I have connected a GVIF video interface but when I switch between video inputs nothing happens and there’s only a black screen.

  • GVIF video interface should be connected near OEM navigation. Otherwise, IN and OUT cables should be switched according to this diagram in order for the input to become an output and vise-versa.

I have connected a GVIF video interface but when I switch between video inputs the screen turns white.

  • Switch places of the purple and brown wires in the GVIF cable, as shown on this diagram.

Smartphone Mirroring Adapters

I cannot find the pin-out for Smartphone/iPhone mirroring adapter (RGBs output).

I have connected the Smartphone/iPhone Wi-Fi mirroring adapter (RCA and HDMI outputs) but there’s no sound coming from the OEM audio system.

  • This adapter uses a special type of audio signal without GND signal which is not supported by some devices. This may be the reason why there’s no sound. The easiest way to solve this problem is by installing a simple jumper between the terminals, as shown in this photo.

Which applications can be used to view YouTube videos on Apple devices?

  • Use alternative applications, such as, Play Tube Free, Protuber, McTube Pro, etc., or the Internet browser.

Camera/Video Connection Cables

I have connected a rear view camera using a Plug&Play connection cable but image from the camera does not appear on the screen.

  • Some cars need to have their rear view camera input additionally activated. This procedure can usually be done by a dealer or using diagnostics equipment or software. We usually clarify this in the product description.
  • In most cases, camera should be powered up from the ACC line i.e. when powering on, the head unit should recognize the camera video signal. Otherwise, rear view camera input will not be active.
  • In most cases, NTSC cameras should be used (which is clarified in the product description). Most cars do not recognize PAL rear view cameras.
  • In some cars, all doors have to be closed for the rear view camera image to appear on the screen.

I have connected a Plug&Play camera/video connection cable; the connectors fit but image does not appear on the screen.

  • Make sure your head unit is present in the compatibility table of the product description. Toyota Touch/Entune gen.1 and Toyota Touch 2/Entune gen.2 head units are easily confused. Although they may have the same connectors, image will not be shown while the car is moving or will not appear on the screen at all.
  • How to distinguish Toyota Touch/Entune gen.1 and Toyota Touch 2/Entune gen.2:

Touch Screens

OEM/aftermarket resistive touch screen does not work when I try to control a connected navigation box.

  • Calibrate the touch screen. For Q-ROI/Q-ROI2 navigation boxes, calibrating utility can be launched by pressing and holding the MODE button. For CS9500 navigation box, remove the memory card and restart the box. You can use a regular USB computer mouse to launch the calibrating utility.
  • Switch places of wires 2 and 3 on one side of the 4-pin touch cable.
  • Make sure navigation box DIP switches are set for resistive touch screen use.

OEM/aftermarket capacitive touch screen does not work when I try to control a connected navigation box.

  • Make sure navigation box DIP switches are set for capacitive touch screen use.
  • Clarify whether this capacitive touch screen fits the navigation box you have installed (if you are using an aftermarket touch screen panel) as different pin-outs exist. Also, make sure all wires and cables are connected correctly.
